How are we funded?
The main source of funding for community councils are the funds raised through what is referred to as a precept (a charge) to council tax under section 41 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992. Additional funds can be raised from Grant applications and loans from the public works board. Funding may be available from local section 106 allocation from larger building development that occur within wards.
Play areas and some green spaces are now under the remit of the Community Council and the costs of maintenance and replacement rests with the Community Council, no funding has been available via 106 monies within the ward, work has been ongoing to try to find grants and funding for new pay equipment, without the need to substantially increase the precept.
